Ever since launching the shop (which has now been a little over 2 weeks), I’ve been feeling a little lost? I confess I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m doing “something” to keep the momentum going. They say if you wait until you’re ready, you’re never going to start. No one ever truly feels ready, right?

Before I found an art style I resonated with and enjoyed, I spent hours scrolling Instagram. I would try to emulate this artist or the other, but I found myself playing the comparison game instead. Distracted by follower and like counts, I thought a specific art style or art theme was preferable or even invaluable compared to others…

I definitely learned a lot from doing a piece more than once (this isn’t the only piece I’ve re-painted). Things in life don’t always work out the first time, and it’s very okay to try things repeatedly until satisfied. And sometimes things just aren’t meant to be, and you don’t need permission to stop (especially if it’s something that makes you uncomfortable or doesn’t align with you). The most important lesson of it all is that you’ve tried. Don’t forget to give yourself a lot of compassion and grace. We’re all learning at our own pace.
